Toronto, Lindsay — Dr Tarek Loubani, an ER doctor in London, Ontario, who was recently released from seven weeks in prison in Egypt with Toronto film maker John Greyson, will visit detainees at the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay, Ontario. Following the visit, Dr Loubani will address media in Lindsay and then in Toronto alongside detainee’s families and supporters.

Monday will mark 48 days since 191 migrants began strike actions in a maximum security prison in Lindsay, Ontario, to protest their indefinite detention and a broken adjudication process. The detainees are demanding an end to indefinite immigration detention. Some of the men have been in detention for as long as seven years because Canada cannot remove them but in contradiction to international legal practice will not release them.
